Activities Coordinator (Part-Time) – Limerick

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for organising and coordinating activities for active daily living for the elderly with the overall aim of improving their intellectual, physical and general health and wellbeing. The Activities Coordinator will identity the needs of both individual and collective groups and tailor a suitable weekly/ongoing activities programme.

Responsibilities to include:

-The main aim is to improve the intellectual, physical and overall health of the people in your care.

-Organise and co-ordinate an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression of individual and group participants over a period of time.

-Activities need to be developed in conjunction other clinical team members to ensure they are safe and relevant to the patient’s requirements e.g. Physiotherapist and Nursing Staff.

-Liaise with third parties to organise entertainment and events.

-Encourage involvement from the local community to attend your activities.

-Complete risk assessments for all resident related activities to ensure the resident’s safety is maintained at all times.

-Organise and escort residents on trips out as necessary.

-Assist with budgeting for entertainment activities, materials and outings.

Requirements:

-The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in a similar role working with the elderly, organising and coordinating a variety of different entertainment activities.

-Ideally have a relevant FETAC and/or SONAS related training.

-Basic first aid training or equivalent.

-Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead your activity programmes in a caring and enthusiastic manner.

-Committed and patient approach with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on life.

-Candidates will be required to complete a Garda Vetting application.

You will work two days per week (15 hours) in community based centres in Kildare & west Wicklow.  You will work in a fully supported environment lead by our Clinical Managers and be given the opportunity to work autonomously in the private healthcare sector. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

-Assessing and advising a wide range of patients with diet-related disorders on the practical ways in which they can improve their health by adopting healthier eating habits.

-Calculating patients’ nutritional requirements using standard equations based on assessments of blood chemistry, temperature, stress, mobility and other relevant factors.

-Analysing the nutritional content of food (including new products).

-Working as part of a multidisciplinary team in hospitals or in a community setting to gain patients’ cooperation in following recommended dietary treatments.

-Educating other healthcare professionals about food and nutrition issues.

-Advising client’s catering providers about the specific dietary requirements of patients.

Part Time/flexible working, Speech & Language Therapist, Adults Intellectual Disabilities, Cork

We are now recruiting for a part time Speech & Language Therapist position in Cork working with adults with developmental disorders and/ or intellectual disability. This position is 12 hours/ month. Flexible working appropriate.

The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

• Plan and organise individual and group caseloads, to include assessment, goal setting and intervention with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, learning disabilities, developmental delay and autism.

• Examine and diagnose the client’s speech therapy requirements drawing up communication programmes.

• Participate in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders (dysphagia) provided they have the appropriate training and post-graduate coursework completed.

• Work with other health professionals such as Nurses, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, GP’s etc and participate in monthly MDT meetings.

• Liaise and communicate with clients’ families and other relevant parties
